TradBeatsWith funding from the Highland Youth Arts Hub, TradBeats is a festival which has traditional arts at its core but re-awakens them in a modern, upbeat context, bringing together the basic elements of voice and movement through rhythm.
Dates: 28th-29th November Location: Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Isle of Skye A weekend of workshops and collaboration exploring rhythmical links between Gaelic mouth music, step dance, beat-boxing and body percussion with tutors Griogair Labhruidh, Lewis MacRae, Sophie Stephenson, Mairi Britton and Eilidh Munro. There will also be a special "Riffs & Rhythms" workshop led by Shooglenifty on the Sunday morning. TradBeats is not responsible for supervision out with the workshop times and therefor under 18s must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
If you are travelling from afar then there is accommodation at the Flora MacDonald Hostel which is within 15 mins walking distance from the college and you can book with them directly. The hostel accommodation costs £16 per person per night. See their website for more details. (N.B. Students must bring a packed lunch for Saturday & Sunday. Dinner is available to purchase at the college on Saturday evening 5pm - 5.45pm.
